5 Tent Trends to Know Before Your Next Event

Event tenting has moved beyond "how do we cover the space?". Now the question is "how do we design an atmosphere?". It's one of the most significant shifts we're seeing in the industry, and it's changing how planners approach every design decision, from choosing the right tent structure to full-scale interior design.

Today's tented events have far surpassed the traditional frame tent, and the possibilities have never been greater. Here are five tent trends to know before your next event.

1. Fabric-focused

Drapery and fabric swagging are showing up in virtually every event photo and social media posts this year, and for good reason. Full, sweeping layers of fabric bring a romantic quality to any space, instantly transforming plain tent walls into a statement backdrop worth photographing.

Depending on the tone you’re looking to set for your event, drapery is one of the most versatile tools in your design arsenal. Heavy materials, like velvet or spandex, add warmth, color, and richness to evening events. Sheer, flowing fabrics are the go-to for daytime gatherings where maximizing natural light becomes the priority. Partial ceiling swagging is another popular choice for event tenting, letting in just enough golden hour light for the perfect atmospheric glow.

And the trend is still evolving: we’re now seeing draped tent walls doubling as projection screens, turning fabric into canvases for custom imagery. At weddings especially, it adds the perfect touch that’s both sentimental and impactful.

2. Bringing the outdoors inside

In recent years, events are moving away from banquet halls and toward more organic, nature-inspired design. Hosts have largely been achieving this through lush greenery, floral installations, and a growing preference for outdoor venues — the clear-span tent is the perfect example of that.

Clear-top and clear-walled tents make it possible to enjoy your outdoor venue to the fullest, while still having complete protection from the elements. The effect on guests is striking: the event space feels open and expansive, connected to the environment around it rather than contained within four walls.

Planners are emphasizing this further by layering in large-scale floral installations and natural design elements that help blur the line between indoors and out. Here, the tent stops being a shade solution and becomes an extension of the venue itself, with nature as the main attraction.

3. Luxury details

Historically, tenting has had one weakness in the realm of upscale events: the details that remind guests they're not in a permanent venue. But even that's changing fast.

Noisy floor fans are no longer the default, specialized HVAC units now hook directly into tent walls to deliver seamless climate control that feels anything but temporary. Even restroom trailers are getting a luxury refresh, with high-end units now featuring chandeliers and built-in powder rooms.

It’s upgrades like these that are quietly closing the gap between a tented event and a five-star venue, opening the door for events that in the past simply couldn't have been done under a tent.

4. Building a custom venue

Long gone are the days of the “basic white tent”. Today’s event tents are the foundation for full event experiences. Everything in an event tent becomes customizable; built specifically for your occasion and your guests from the ground up.

Planners are no longer limited to tabletop decor. You can lay a custom wood floor in your stain of choice, rig layered lighting installations (think: glittering chandeliers paired with romantic string lights, ambience wash lights and warm, amber uplights) and fully integrate every element of your event under one roof. Lounge vignettes, bars, statement flooring, seating arrangements, all of it lives together seamlessly underneath.

The event tent is a blank canvas, and what goes inside is entirely up to you.

5. Beauty meets function

One of the most talked-about innovations in event tenting right now is the Conservatory Structure, also known as the Garden Tent. This is an upgrade from your traditional vinyl frame tent: an engineered clear-span system with an aluminum frame, curved roof, and modular wall panels that, together, create something that feels more like a venue than a temporary structure.

The Conservatory’s biggest advantage is the pole-free interior. Without center poles breaking up the floor plan, you’re awarded with truly open, uninterrupted event space. No poles also mean no compromises on where you choose to set your dance floor, seating layout, or focal point. Overall creating better flow, more usable square footage for bigger guest counts, and unobstructed event photos. (Please note our Conservatory Tent is now available to rent in our CA markets, but can be sent to Phoenix and Texas for an additional freight charge.)

It’s no wonder why this tenting trend is quickly becoming a classic for those looking for both function, and a serious visual upgrade.

The events industry is ever-changing, but the ideal guest experience has always been the goal. What tent trends are doing right now is giving planners more tools than ever to deliver on that: more creativity, more flexibility, and more ways to make a space feel like it was built just for the people in it. Trends are starting points, not a rule book. They're a chance to refine your event design into something that feels current yet still authentic to you.
